Forum on Biodiversity

On Jan 7, 2020, DHI Malaysia held a successful 1-day forum in Kuala Lumpur on "Biodiversity and the Business and Private Sector in Malaysia", supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources. The forum was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato' Dr. Xavier Jayakumar, Minster of Water, Land and Natural Resources, who gave full support for the establishment of a Malaysian Platform for Business and Biodiversity. He also announced that the inputs from the Malaysian business and private sector gathered during the forum would be presented at the ASEAN Conference on Biodiversity 2020 to be held in Kuala Lumpur in March 2020.

The forum and the proposed platform are DHI Malaysia initiatives to foster collaboration within the business and private sector and with the policy makers in government in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and specifically in mainstreaming biodiversity conservation in business processes and practices. This partnership will help the business and private sector to recognise, manage and prevent biodiversity-related risks to their bottom line while potentially also harnessing new business opportunities
